Hyundai only recently shared the design sketches of the upcoming Creta SUV, and with the official launch drawing ever closer, the company has now released pictures of its exterior. Scheduled to hit the market on January 16, this mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) is gearing up to take on its rivals, including the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, and the upcoming Tata Curvv. Hyundai has opened bookings for the Creta facelift, requiring a token amount of Rs 25,000.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift has undergone significant updates, enhancing its visual appeal and modernity. At the front, an imposing rectangular grille is complemented by L-shaped LED daytime running lights and quad-beam LED headlamps, creating a distinctive and commanding presence. The bumper integrates a silver faux skid plate, housing LED horizon positioning lamps and daytime running lights. The rear fascia boasts a redesigned appearance with new L-shaped LED tail lamps, a connected LED light bar, and revised bumpers. In profile, the Creta’s muscular stance is enhanced by its flared haunches and new alloy wheels.
Interior
The interior of the Creta was also revealed a few days earlier, showcasing a completely revamped cabin designed for comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury. The dashboard showcases a new design, hosting a dual-screen setup with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a digital driver’s display of the same size. The centre console incorporates a touch-based climate control module with rectangular air-conditioning vents. Leatherette seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a door armrest covering add a touch of luxury to the inside of the SUV. Notable features include front-ventilated seats, an eight-way power driver seat, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a panoramic sunroof. The top-spec variants boast an extensive list of creature comforts, including a surround-view monitor, blind spot view monitor, and a Bose premium sound system with eight speakers.
Safety
Hyundai has prioritised safety in the Creta facelift, equipping it with over 70 safety features. The standard safety package includes six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, and electronic stability control. The top-tier variants go a step further with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), part of Hyundai's SmartSense technology, offering a total of 19 safety features.
Engine and transmission
The 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift provides a diverse range of powertrain options to cater to various driving preferences. The new 1.5-litre Kappa GDi engine replaces the previous 1.4-litre turbo engine, offering improved performance and efficiency. The new turbo-petrol produces 160PS of maximum power and 253Nm of peak torque. The existing naturally aspirated engines continue to serve the new SUV. As for output figures, the 1.5-litre MPi petrol produces 115PS of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel, on the other hand, produces 115PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque.
Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission, Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT), seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Trim levels and variants
The 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift offers an extensive lineup of seven trims to cater to diverse consumer preferences. The trims include E, EX, S, S(O), SX, SX Tech, and SX(O). In total, Hyundai provides a staggering 28 different combinations of trims, engines, and transmissions, ensuring that buyers can select a configuration that aligns with their needs and desires.
Launch and pricing
Excitement surrounds the imminent launch of the Creta facelift, scheduled for January 16, 2024. The bookings are already underway, requiring a token amount of Rs 25,000 and an expected price range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Buyers can choose from six colour options: Robust Emerald Pearl (New), Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Abyss Black, Atlas White, and Titan Grey. For those seeking a distinctive look, a dual-tone Atlas White with a black roof is also on offer.
