Miss Universe owner Raúl Rocha has been charged by Mexico's Attorney General's Office (FRG) over allegations that he has been involved in trafficking of drugs, weapons and fuel between Guatemala and Mexico. The news was first published by Mexican newspaper Reforma.
As per the report in newspaper, it is believed that the Mexican businessman smuggles fuel in boats through the Usumacinta river and then in trucks to Querétaro, Mexico.
The report also mentioned that on August 6, Yazmín Mayoral Marín, an agent in Mexico’s Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, had requested an arrest warrant for Rocha over organized crime charges for his alleged involvement in drug and firearm trafficking.
In fact, the FRG also raided residences, including the one from where they had obtained the records of monetary contributions from Rocha to a criminal enterprise. Can you guess the amount of contribution? Well, as per the report, it amounted to 2.1 million pesos.
In the arrest warrant, the claim has been made that members of Rocha's alleged criminal enterprise also has connections with politicians and authorities at all three levels of government to help facilitate their mission. The latter includes the sale of hydrocarbons, narcotics and trafficking and sale of large quantities of weapons of war.
In fact, Reforma cited federal sources and said that Rocha had approached FGR in October to negotiate a plea bargain to trade information in exchange of immunity from prosecution.
