It seems Patola lehengas and sarees are the wedding season’s hottest trends, with Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, and Sonali Bendre slaying in them like no other! Their latest desi ensembles are vibrant and feminine, styled with jewellery that is equally glamorous.
Let’s decode their looks, but first, here’s a little more about Patola you should know…
What is a Patola lehenga or a saree?
Patola is a double Ikat-woven silk fabric from Patan, Gujarat. It’s known for its bright colours and characterised by geometrical and abstract patterns. Valued for its complexity and time-intensive technique, Patola is often worn on special occasions because of the richness it brings.
Ananya Panday’s Mustard Patola Lehenga
Ananya Panday exuded feminine chic in a Label Anushree silk lehenga, which, despite its traditional design, gave off a contemporary vibe. The silk panels and embroidered border added to the beauty of the skirt, paired with a heavily embellished high-neck blouse and a dupatta in rich handwoven Patola. The yellows and reds made the look exuberant.
She was styled with traditional chokers, kundan earrings, and bangles, all of which elevated her ensemble. Her makeup looked natural and flawless, with softly defined eyes, well-shaped brows, and soft pink lipstick. A small bindi enhanced the Indian touch. Her hair was styled in a neat, low bun, which made her look beautiful.
Janhvi Kapoor in a cobalt-blue lehenga
Designed by Jigya Patel, Janhvi looked stunning at a wedding in a Patola cobalt-blue lehenga with intricate geometrical patterns featuring threadwork and embellishments. The blouse added glamour with its beautifully embroidered sleeves, mirror work, and tassels.
Janhvi’s skirt was adorned with a floral embroidery inspired by Parsi gara. The blue dupatta also looked vibrant with a similar Patola pattern detailed with charming metallic coin borders, embroidered motifs, and unmissable tassels. She layered the look with a dupatta. Her jewellery added traditional, rustic charm to the look, while her braid, adorned with hair brooches, completed the ensemble beautifully.
Sonali Bendre in a pink Patola saree
Sonali Bendre looked stunning in a rani pink silk saree with gorgeous emerald and turquoise motifs. The drape by Jigya Patel was every bit Patola, with its vibrant jewel-toned hues, such as greens, blues, and yellows that spread flawlessly across the saree. Additionally, it featured a border laden with antique gold sequins.
The actress’s drape was paired with a plain blouse and accessorised with kundan earrings, a ring, and stacked bangles. Her hair was styled in a braid with a parandi and hair ornaments. She wore minimal makeup and looked quite desi with all the little additions.
