Mental health of Gen Z workers: Encourage communication, flexible hours and work-life balance

The youngest generation of workers are the Gen Z employees, born roughly between 1997 and 2012, who are entering the workforce with their unique challenges and perspectives. This is the first generation brought up completely at ease with technology, and while they spend a lot of time on the internet, they are not necessarily equipped to deal with the stress and anxiety that comes with it.

As a generation, Gen Z are more empathetic about the world, looking to make a difference globally, and their work ethics also speak the same language. They expect more inclusivity, openness and honesty from their employers, including about mental health issues.

As employers, understanding and addressing their mental health issues will foster a healthy, productive workplace for this new generation of workers.
