Mahesh Babu is in the spotlight for more than one reason this time. The South star, who is busy with the promotions of his film Varanasi, recently attended the Globe Trotter event with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in Hyderabad, where the 50-year-old caught attention for looking younger than ever.

While SS Rajamouli’s ambitious project title was revealed at the event along with the first look of the actor as Rudhra, fans couldn’t help but notice how he looked in his 30s. And this takes us back to the time when his fitness trainer revealed the workout and diet he swears by.

Committed to Fitness

Mahesh doesn’t take fitness lightly, and it isn’t just for a role in films. It’s a way of life for him. His long-time fitness trainer Kumar Mannava shared in an earlier interview with TOI Lifestyle the actor’s commitment: “He values his body throughout the year and never skips workouts,” he said.

The actor’s workouts are structured and focused, targeting one body part each day on a weekly routine. On lighter days, his session can last about an hour; for an intense session, he often ends up spending 90 minutes. He also pays attention to long stretches to keep his movements fluid and flexible, which helps prevent stiffness that often accompanies ageing.

No fad trends, but consistent meals

Mahesh’s trainer further added that the actor likes to follow a consistent meal plan and isn’t into fad diets. His day comprises five to six meals, out of which two are supplement shakes to fulfil his nutritional requirements without the worry of extra calories or relying on diets.

The actor’s breakfast is big on protein and fibre and includes oats, eggs, nuts, and fruit. Post his gym session, he takes a healthy protein or nutrition shake. For lunch, he alternates between chicken, lamb or fish with sides like brown rice, quinoa or khus khus—all of which are rich in proteins, fibre, and sufficient carbs. Dinner for the actor includes whole-wheat or brown bread paired with eggs or chicken.
