7 Signs of UTI in Children

• Frequent Urination: If your kid is peeing more than regular, this can sign an infection in the urinary tract.

• Pain or Burning During Urination: UTI also presents frequent complaints of discomfort or crying on urination.

• Strong or Foul-Smelling Urine: An abnormal smell in the urine can be a sign of bacteria in the urinary tract.

• Cloudy or Bloody Urine: Urine that looks unclear or pinkish is likewise a warning sign

• Fever Without Obvious Cause: Continuous fever or fever with chills, etc. that persists for a long time can be an internal infection such as UTI.

• Abdominal or Back Pain: Sharp pain in the lower belly or lower back could indicate that the infection has moved up to the kidneys.

• Irritability or Loss of Appetite: The discomfort may not be communicated in words, but the behavior of young children will change, they will appear cranky or may eat less.

• Promote Routine Bathroom Break: Train your child not to retain urine in the bladder for too long.

• Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water will help your body flush bacteria from the urinary system.

• Choose Cotton Underwear: Cotton allows better air circulation which eventually leads to lesser bacterial growth.

• Stay away from bubble baths and harsh soaps: These can irritate the urethra, leading to higher chances of infection.

• Handle Constipation as Quickly as Possible: Constipation can place stress on the bladder, which increases the danger of UTI.

• Pediatric Follow-up: If your child has recurrent UTIs, take your child to the doctor for followup.
