The excitement surrounding War 2 continues to intensify as the makers officially lock its runtime and secure a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this much-anticipated action thriller stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr in lead roles and has now earned the distinction of being the longest film in the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Spy Universe.
According to sources close to the production, the final runtime of War 2 stands at an impressive 2 hours and 53 minutes (173 minutes), excluding the end credit sequence. The latter is expected to be certified separately in the coming days. “War 2 has been certified by CBFC without many revision suggestions by the board members,” a source told Pinkvilla, highlighting the board’s positive reception of the film.
Carrying forward the legacy of massive hits like Pathaan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Tiger 3, War 2 will also feature an exclusive post-credit scene — a hallmark of the YRF Spy Universe. While the details of the sequence remain a closely guarded secret, insiders reveal it will be added to the final theatrical print, and only a select few know what it entails.
The runtime makes War 2 the longest spy film produced under the YRF banner, surpassing its predecessors — Ek Tha Tiger (132 mins), Tiger Zinda Hai (161 mins), War (154 mins), Pathaan (146 mins), and Tiger 3 (156 mins).

Co-starring Kiara Advani, the film is set to deliver six high-octane action sequences, choreographed by elite international stunt teams. Scheduled for a grand worldwide release on August 14, 2025, War 2 is strategically timed to capitalize on the Independence Day weekend.
