Anupam Mittal's emotional story makes the highlight of this episode

The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 witnessed an emotional moment as entrepreneur Anupam Mittal shared a deeply personal story during the pitch of FUPRO, a startup revolutionizing the prosthetics industry. Founders Nimish Mehra and Cyril Joe Baby introduced their brand’s innovative and affordable prosthetic solutions, which have already transformed the lives of over 15,000 individuals with disabilities through their 20 cutting-edge products, five of which are patented.

FUPRO aims to empower people with disabilities by merging technology and empathy. During their pitch, the founders showcased the story of Anshul, a national-level mountaineer who lost his leg in an accident but rediscovered his passion for climbing thanks to FUPRO’s prosthetic leg. Nimish, an international race car designer, explained how his graduation project to develop better prosthetics for injured soldiers turned into a lifelong mission. Partnering with his junior, Cyril, they established FUPRO as a symbol of hope and innovation.

As the presentation unfolded, the sharks asked probing questions about the competitive landscape and the unique aspects of FUPRO's offerings. Aman Gupta inquired about market challenges, while Anupam Mittal asked how their "Sach Foot" differed from the widely used Jaipur Foot. Cyril explained the science behind their product, highlighting the critical issue of blood circulation after amputation. He said, “When a limb is amputated, blood circulation is disrupted because the calf muscles, which assist blood flow back to the heart, are no longer present. This causes increased heart rates, metabolic stress, and secondary health issues like high blood pressure. Our prosthetic solutions aim to address these challenges.”

This explanation struck a chord with Anupam, who opened up about a traumatic family experience. He recounted, “My cousin came under a train and lost his hand and foot. Unfortunately, I was carrying his feet in a bag, hoping they could be reattached, but we eventually had to turn to prosthetics. Hearing what you said today validated so much for me. I didn’t realize these secondary issues were affecting him. You’ve educated me, and I want to thank you for that. I will definitely do more research and stay in touch for his treatment.”
