Fashion doesn’t only have to do with what you wear, it has a lot to do with how you are as a person, says actor Gurpeet Singh. Gurpreet, who is known for his shows Kahiin to Hoga, Saarrthi, Maayka and Durgesh Nandinii, says that he loves to come up with styles which help people get a glimpse of his personality.
“Fashion is not just about the clothes I wear, it is more about who I am. It is a way to introduce myself to the world and express my personality. I am a simple person and my clothes and accessories spell that out for the world. I love to curate styles that resonate with how I am, that is my fashion statement,” he says.
Ask him if he feels that an actor has to look good all the time, and he says, “I would be incorrect in asserting that looks don’t matter, and it is just your craft that sets you apart. When your fans feel that you have put an effort to dress well, look good; you become an inspiration for them as well. However, having said that, my primary focus still remains on honing my skills. True success in acting goes beyond physical appearance; it's about connecting authentically with characters.”
As far as fashion trends do, he tries to balance between his style and what is trending. “I balance staying aware of trends with embracing a personal style that aligns with simplicity. Fashion, as a form of self-expression, involves incorporating current trends into my wardrobe while prioritizing pieces that compliment my personality. This approach lets me stay contemporary while embracing a style that feels authentic,” he says.
He adds, “Observing recent trends, I anticipate a return to light fabrics, vibrant colours, and relaxed silhouettes for the upcoming summer. Comfortable yet chic ensembles like flowy shirts and breathable trousers might take the spotlight. Sustainability and eco-friendly fashion could gain prominence, aligning with my preference for mindful wardrobe choices and a simple lifestyle.”
The actor prioritises comfort over style saying, “My comfort clothes strike a balance between ease and style. Well-fitted jeans with a cozy sweater or a simple cotton t-shirt with joggers are my go-to choices. It's about feeling at ease while still reflecting my personal style in a laid-back manner. I prefer a versatile palette that compliments simplicity — staples like navy, black, and white for timeless appeal. Muted tones and earthy hues add warmth, while occasional pops of colour allow for dynamic experimentation. My colour choices align with mood, setting, and the statement I aim to make through my clothing,” he says.
As for fashion icons, he looks up to Hrithik Roshan. “Hrithik Roshan is someone I genuinely admire for his effortless blend of classic elegance with a modern edge. Whether in casual looks or formal attire, Hrithik embodies versatility while maintaining a timeless appeal. Studying his fashion journey has been influential in shaping my own approach to personal style, embracing simplicity with a touch of modern flair,” he says.
