Thug life OTT release

Thug Life is an upcoming Indian gangster drama by Mani Ratnam in which Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan played the lead roles, where he has two roles in the film and it’s scheduled to release on 5 June 2025. But despite the hype of the reunion of the iconic filmmaker and Haasan after almost three decades, the movie seems to have fallen short of expectations — both critically and at the box office.

Initially, Thug Life was scheduled to release within 8 weeks of the OTT release, something that Kamal Haasan had called a “pragmatic” approach. But newer reports indicate that the film could land on Netflix as few as four weeks post-theatrical.

Netflix is reportedly evaluating the 8-week schedule since the film has hardly received a si (pun unintended) according to M9 News. If this move happens, fans may get to see the film online by early July. But, an official announcement from the streaming site or the production house is yet to be made.

The movie is about Rangaraaya Sakthivel (Haasan), an ageing goon in Mumbai who orders to kill a gangster in Delhi, who leaves behind an abandoned son, Amaran (STR), and he then takes responsibility for the child. Over the years, Sakthivel shapes Amaran into a dreaded element of the underworld. But father and son clash bitterly after Sakthivel hands over the reins of the gang to him, leading to a final showdown with murder as the outcome.
