Jason Sanjay, son of actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay, is set to make his directorial debut in the Tamil film industry with a project backed by Lyca Productions. The production house also revealed on Firday that Sundeep Kishan will play the lead role in the film.
On November 29, Lyca Productions revealed the announcement through a motion poster featuring Sundeep Kishan and Jason Sanjay seated amidst piles of cash in a library. The caption read, "A new chapter unfolds as we welcome our exceptional cast & crew @sundeepkishan @musicthaman & @praveenkl on board for JASON SANJAY-01"
A standout moment in the video features Jason Sanjay and Sundeep Kishan taking their places as director and lead actor, respectively, with Thaman’s mesmerizing music enhancing the atmosphere.
Along with the motion poster, it was revealed that the film, currently titled Jason Sanjay 01, will feature music composed by Thaman S and editing by Praveen KL. The producer also shared that filming for the project will begin soon. However, the makers haven't announced the cast of the film yet.
While Sanjay’s directorial debut was announced in August 2023, this project has been in the works ever since his father, Vijay, hinted at his son’s interest in direction. Sanjay completed his schooling in Chennai, followed by a Film Production Diploma at Toronto Film School and a BA (Hons) in Screenwriting in London.
For those unversed, Jason made his first appearance in a cameo in the 2009 film Vettaikaaran, where he was featured in the song Naan Adicha.
