Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, whose highly anticipated Do You Wanna Partner recently released, has suggested that actor needs to engage in upskilling as well.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Tamannaah discussed everything from the show to the choices made by the actors while promoting her new show, Do You Wanna Partner.
The actress revealed that once she was trying to hire a person, but he kept patronising her. She said, “People often think they are doing you some sort of a favour. I didn't hire him in the end.” She added, “But people do this all the time, and then they act like they should be applauded for showing support in this manner."
She also talked about female actors' opportunities. Having Diana Penty and Tamannaah, the lead roles of Do You Wanna Partner, with both in their late 30s. Women of that age were rarely given roles in Indian cinema a few decades ago.
The actress has also suggested that there’s no cribbing about the actors’ difficulty in landing strong, author-backed roles after a certain age.
"As actors, it's also about upping your game," she says, "Sometimes, there is too much of a pity party going on about what I didn't get. As actors, we need to constantly evolve and up our game."
Tamannaah further noted that actors will not remain relevant unless they change and learn new skills.
The actress said, “At this age, I expect to get certain characters. Ten years down the line, if I want the same kind of work or even a different kind of work, I have to be that good that it is written for me. Actors have to command that by bringing something new to the table, especially with the times we are in, where we don't know what will do well. Evolution is the only way we can evade that."
Do You Wanna Partner is streaming on Prime Video. The show is about how women entrepreneurs are not being taken seriously and is something the actress that all women have faced in some way or the other.
