Renowned filmmaker Sukumar has every reason to beam with pride as his daughter, Sukriti Veni Bandreddi, has achieved a milestone that few her age can boast of. At just 15, Sukriti has been honoured with the prestigious National Award for Best Child Artist for her moving performance in Gandhi Tatha Chettu.
With her remarkable screen presence, expressive performance and depth well beyond her years, Sukriti has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in Indian cinema.
Her achievement was recently recognised at a special felicitation hosted by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Sukumar, accompanied by his wife and daughter, attended the ceremony alongside the film’s producer Yalamanchili Ravishankar and other dignitaries.
The Chief Minister warmly congratulated Sukriti, lauded her performance, and offered words of encouragement to the budding star and her team. Photographs and videos from the event, shared on social media by Mythri Movie Makers as well as the official handle of the Telangana CMO, quickly spread across the internet, highlighting the celebratory moment.
Mythri Movie Makers expressed their pride in a heartfelt post, writing:

Sukumar's daughter, Sukrithi, received the National Award for Best Child Actress for the film “Gandhi Tatha Chettu.” On this occasion, the Chief Minister honoured and congratulated Sukrithi. #Sukumar #GandhiTathaChettu”

Directed by Padmavathi Malladi, Gandhi Tatha Chettu offered Sukriti the perfect platform to display her craft. Produced by Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar, and Sesha Sindu Rao under Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings and Gopi Talkies, the socially relevant Telugu drama tells the story of a 13-year-old who embraces Gandhian principles to protect a cherished village tree. Released on 24 January 2025, the film has been applauded for both its poignant storytelling and powerful performances.
