Actress Soni Razdan recently had the rare and profound opportunity to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama, an experience she described as beyond the reach of words. Sharing snapshots from the encounter on social media, Razdan expressed her deep gratitude and the unique emotional impact of the meeting.
"I still can’t believe that I was fortunate enough to meet His Holiness The Dalai Lama on this journey," she wrote. "Some experiences don’t need words. They don’t need explanations. Pure feeling is enough. Gratitude for this very special experience. Thank you." She tagged the organizations that made the meeting possible, adding a folded hands emoji to convey her reverence.
Razdan’s brief yet heartfelt message underscores the powerful, often ineffable nature of moments spent in the presence of great spiritual leaders. It suggests that certain encounters resonate on a level deeper than language, where emotions and energy convey meaning far beyond spoken communication.
In the days before this meeting, Razvan also shared reflections on her personal connection to global struggles, particularly focusing on the ongoing conflict in Palestine. Drawing from her family’s history, she revealed a courageous chapter involving her grandfather during one of history’s darkest periods.
“In this very terrifying and uncertain atmosphere, he had the courage to run an underground newspaper against Hitler,” she wrote on Instagram. “They distributed it as widely as they could, and of course the inevitable happened... One day he was found out. They arrested him. He was thrown into prison and later into the concentration camp.”
Miraculously, her grandfather was eventually released thanks to a good lawyer but was banned from ever returning to Germany. Razdan expressed immense pride in his bravery: “My grandfather had the courage to stand up against a tyrant all those years ago.”
Reflecting on current events, she added, “Therefore, when I see what is happening in Palestine today, I am so glad he is no longer alive. It would have broken him. The very people he fought so hard to save have turned into those that oppressed them.”
Razdan’s remarks also acknowledged that many Jews oppose the violence in Palestine, drawing a parallel with how many Germans resisted Hitler’s regime, though few had the courage her grandfather showed.
