The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 witnessed two exciting pitches—Burger Bae, a thriving D2C clothing brand, and Boba Bhai, a GenZ-focused food startup. Both brands showcased their innovative business models, sparking intense negotiations among the Sharks.
Burger Bae, founded by Rohan Kashyap, Ojasvee Kashyap, and Janvi Sikaria, has grown into a well-recognized clothing brand with over 2.5 lakh customers and a strong digital presence of 2.67 lakh Instagram followers. Despite its quirky name leading to initial confusion, the founders impressed the Sharks with their vision of building a Make-in-India fashion brand that prioritizes quality, community, and sustainability.
Rohan, passionate about business from a young age, expressed his ambition, saying, “Mujhe Ludhiana ka Narayan Murthy banna hai.” Aman Gupta humorously responded, “Sahi hai, bas 70 ghanta kaam karna padega.”
Janvi revealed how she transitioned from being a customer to a co-founder after facing a delay in her second order. She and Rohan also disclosed their relationship, adding a personal touch to their pitch. Their initial ask was Rs 1 crore for 2.5% equity.
Sharks Anupam Mittal, Kunal Bahl, and Aman Gupta collectively offered Rs 1 crore for 10% equity or Rs 2 crore for 20%. The founders negotiated, and eventually, the trio accepted Rs 2 crore for 20%, securing a deal with three Sharks on board.
Next up was Dhruv Kohli, founder of Boba Bhai, a GenZ-focused food brand launched in October 2023. Specializing in bubble tea with an Indian twist and Korean-style burgers, Dhruv entered the Tank with a bold valuation of Rs 166 crore, seeking Rs 50 lakh for 0.3% equity.
Shark Namita Thapar was stunned by the high valuation, exclaiming, “Main shock ho gayi aapka valuation dekh ke.” Kunal Bahl had already invested in Boba Bhai and refrained from making an offer, leaving the remaining Sharks to assess the business potential.
The Sharks enjoyed the boba drinks but were divided over the burgers. Anupam Mittal found them too spicy, struggling to take a bite, prompting a debate over whether extreme spice could appeal to a broad audience. Viraj Bahl defended the concept, stating, “Korean food with high spice is becoming mainstream. Spice is becoming trendy among GenZ.” However, Anupam dismissed it as a passing fad.
Dhruv introduced his range of ice creams to balance the spice, demonstrating the brand’s diverse offerings. After intense negotiations, Namita and Viraj extended an offer of Rs 90 lakh for 1% equity, which Dhruv accepted after a counter-offer discussion.
Following the pitch, Kunal returned to praise Dhruv’s dedication, stating, “Dhruv is a very hardworking and driven founder.” Dhruv, thrilled with the outcome, said, “Being on Shark Tank India 4 was an incredible experience. We’re not just a food brand; we’re a Gen Z-focused community that creates unique experiences. The Sharks’ feedback was invaluable, and we can’t wait for the future of Boba Bhai.”
With two high-energy pitches and compelling deals, Shark Tank India 4 continues to be an exciting platform for innovative entrepreneurs aiming to make a mark in the industry.
