Shabana Azmi, a cinematic icon, marks her 50th year in the Indian film industry. To honor her extraordinary career, the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) Toronto 2024 will pay tribute to her during its 13th edition. Azmi's significant contributions to Indian cinema have solidified her status as a beloved and respected figure in the industry.

Shabana's cinematic journey began in 1974 with Ankur, a pivotal film in the Indian parallel cinema movement. This era of socially conscious films, known for its neo-realist style, gained significant government backing in the 1970s.
