Actress Pooja Hegde has recently captivated her fans with her infectious dance moves in her upcoming film Retro’s new song, Kanimaa. She will star alongside Suriya Sivakumar in the upcoming film.
However, the actress also often receives criticism and has recently slammed the targeted online trolling. Pooja has also claimed that some individuals are investing significant amounts of money to tarnish her reputation and spread negative publicity about her.
In a recent interview with Filmfare, Pooja Hegde addressed PR and trolling. She said, “The one thing I am really bad at is PR. I am very bad at it. I remember a time when I was constantly getting trolled on certain meme pages, and I wondered why they kept talking negatively about me.”
The actress noted, “It looked targeted. People are obviously spending a lot of money on bringing others down.” However, the actress further noted that the trolling has left a negative impact on her and her family.
She said, “My parents and I were very bothered when we found out. But I also took it as a compliment, because if someone feels the need to pull you down, it means you are above them.”
The actress further revealed that her team had contacted the social media meme pages only to know that the trolling was a paid activity. She said, “Later, when my team got in touch with the meme pages involved, they told us, 'This is how much they are paying us. If you'd like to stop it or troll them back, this is the amount. To me, it is bizarre that people are going to this extent.”

The actress also noted that she occasionally checks comments and visits profiles, only to find that some accounts have no display pictures or posts, leading her to conclude that these are paid bots.
On the work front, Pooja Hegde starrer gangster action drama, Retro, will be released on May 1. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film also stars Joju George and Prakash Raj in key roles.
The actress will also star in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside Varun Dhawan, which she's currently filming in Rishikesh. She is also speculated to star in Sanki, Coolie, Jana Nayagan, and Housefull 5.
