Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Bads of Bollywood, has quickly become the show everyone’s talking about — and for good reason.
With its sharp storytelling, biting humour, and a twist-filled climax that left viewers stunned, the series offers a fresh, fearless take on the inner workings of the Hindi film industry.
But amid all the chaos and clever commentary, there’s one moment that truly caught fans off guard: the unexpected return of a 90s Bollywood classic — Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela — now featuring Mona Singh.
In a standout scene from the finale, Aryan uses slick VFX to place Mona Singh’s face onto the original dancer from the 1997 track. The result is seamless, surreal, and instantly recognisable to Bollywood buffs. The song, originally from the thriller Gupt, has now taken on a whole new life — and viewers were quick to ask: who danced in the original version?
Who is Bhanu Khan?
In Gupt, Bhanu played a glamorous bartender who joins Bobby Deol on the dance floor during Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela. Dressed in a striking white outfit, she oozed charisma and style, leaving a lasting impression despite limited screen time.
A well-known background dancer in the 90s, Bhanu appeared in several major songs alongside top stars. Her filmography includes iconic tracks like Tere Ishq Mein Naachenge from Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s Raja Hindustani (1996), Gutur Gutur from Mithun Chakraborty’s Dalaal (1993), Ram Kasam Mera Bada Naam Ho Gaya with Sanjay Dutt, and Doodh Ban Jaaoongi Malai Ban Jaaoongi from Sarhad.
For many millennials, hers was a familiar face — but not a name they knew, until now.

Another dancer in that same Gupt scene was Mahru Shaikh, dressed in black. After her dancing days, she went on to play Armaan Suri’s mother in the hit TV show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.
The Bads of Bollywood follows Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya), a driven outsider trying to carve a space in the cutthroat world of films. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the Netflix series combines grit and satire, featuring a stellar cast — Bobby Deol, Sahher Bambba, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa among them — with surprise appearances by Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, and others.
