According to HYBE, the company adhered to the broadcaster's guidelines and addressed on-site issues by providing rest areas and drinks to alleviate discomfort. Despite these measures, fans are demanding a formal apology and corrective action, citing significant safety issues they experienced during the recording.

The controversy began on October 22, when a fan, identified as A, posted a detailed account on social media about the conditions during SEVENTEEN’s October 15 recording at CJ ENM Studio Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The post, titled "Official Apology and Rectification Request for Fan Safety Issue at SEVENTEEN’s Oct 15th, 2024 Pre-Recording," quickly went viral, being retweeted over 1000 times on X (formerly Twitter). A described severe overcrowding, with 1700 attendees packed into a space designed for 1600, leading to intense crowd pressure in the floor section. Fans reportedly fainted, fell ill, and were even carried out mid-performance as the situation escalated.

A major contributing factor to the fans' distress, according to A, was the requirement to wear varsity jackets provided for the event. This reportedly led to dehydration and fainting in the packed venue. Following the event, fans had to sit or lie on the asphalt outside due to limited rest space. Despite collecting fans’ personal information after the incident, A claimed that neither HYBE nor CJ ENM offered any follow-up support.

A reached out to the fan platform Weverse, but got a response that only on-site issues could be addressed in real-time. This left fans further dissatisfied with the handling of the incident. After receiving no further assistance, A filed a formal complaint with the Korea Consumer Agency on October 18. HYBE's request for photo or video evidence for compensation was also met with frustration, as attendees were barred from using electronic devices in the studio.
