The Indian film industry mourns the loss of esteemed Malayalam filmmaker Aroma Mani, also known as M. Mani, who passed away on July 14 at the age of 65. Mani's death, which occurred at his residence in Kunnukuzhi, was attributed by his family members to age-related ailments. His passing marks the end of a significant era in Malayalam cinema, where he made profound contributions through his work as both a producer and director.
Aroma Mani's career began in 1977 with his first production, "Dheere Sameera Yamuna Theere," setting the stage for a prolific journey in the film industry. Over the years, he produced around 60 screenplays and directed seven films. His contributions were not limited to quantity but extended to the quality and impact of his work. Mani's films, released under the banners of Aroma Movie International and Sunita Production, have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

Mani's last produced film was "Artist," directed by Shyamaprasad in 2013, featuring Fahadh Faasil, a testament to his enduring relevance in the industry.

His film "Thinkalazhcha Nalla Divasam" (1985) won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam, celebrated for its exploration of family relationships against the backdrop of rural and urban dynamics. Another acclaimed work, "Doore Doore Oru Koodu Koottam," produced by Mani and directed by Sibi Malayil, received the National Prize Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues, highlighting his commitment to addressing societal themes through cinema.
Mani's passing has elicited condolences from prominent political figures and industry colleagues. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan expressed their grief and paid tribute to his contributions to Malayalam cinema. Mani's body will be kept at Bharat Bhavan on Monday, allowing the public to pay their respects before the funeral at his property in Aruvikkara.
For over four decades, Mani was a dominant figure in the Malayalam film industry, producing numerous super-hit movies that resonated with audiences and critics alike.
