Korean actor Yoon Ji-On has found himself in the middle of a storm after admitting to driving under the influence. The 35-year-old actor, best known for roles in Be Melodramatic, Memorist, Tomorrow, and most recently Love Next Door, issued a public apology on September 17 and confirmed that he would be stepping down from his upcoming drama Positively Yours.
Yoon addressed fans and the public through a somber Instagram post, uploading a black image with a long caption written in Korean. In his translated statement, he confessed, “On September 16, I made the mistake of riding a motorcycle while drunk. I cannot remember the details. I admitted to all allegations and am cooperating with the investigation.” He went on to acknowledge the disappointment he caused to his supporters, adding, “Because of my insolent behavior, I hurt and disappointed so many people who supported me. I will be vigilant for the rest of my life to prevent this from happening again. There is no excuse at all. Once again I bow my head and apologize.”
The post has since circulated widely online, with fans and netizens expressing mixed reactions—some disappointed by his actions, others urging him to take accountability and return only after genuine reflection.
The fallout was immediate. Yoon officially announced his withdrawal from Channel A’s Positively Yours, a drama based on the hit webtoon of the same name. The series, which began filming in July, had already completed more than half its shoot, with Yoon on set until just last week. Production was expected to wrap by December, but his departure has thrown the project into uncertainty.
The story of Positively Yours follows two individuals who never intended to marry but find themselves navigating the unexpected consequences of a one-night stand. Scheduled for release in the first half of next year, the drama now faces the daunting task of recasting and reshooting significant portions, a move that could delay its premiere or inflate production costs.
