Once again, Lisa from BLACKPINK, a global K-pop icon, has won people over with a small, charming peek into her daily life rather than a performance.
Fans quickly noticed a small but important detail when the Thai-born superstar shared a screenshot of a K-drama she was watching: she was watching it with Korean subtitles rather than Thai or English.
On 13 October, Lisa posted the image on her personal social media, showing a touching moment from the popular tvN series “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty”, which wrapped up on 28 September.
The still captured actor Lee Chae-min in an emotional close-up, accompanied by the line, “Please don’t smile like that.” While the scene itself tugged at viewers’ hearts, fans couldn’t help but focus on the fact that Lisa had chosen to immerse herself fully in the Korean experience — watching with Korean subtitles, just like a native viewer would.
It’s a simple act, but for Lisa’s fans, it was a sweet reminder of how much she has embraced South Korea — her home for more than 15 years.
The singer, who moved from Thailand as a teenager to pursue her dream of becoming an artist, has long been praised for her near-native fluency and natural ease in the language.
Yet it’s these quiet, unfiltered glimpses into her life that show just how deeply connected she’s become to the culture that shaped her career.
Earlier this year, during her appearance on BIGBANG member Daesung’s YouTube show “ZIP DAESUNG”, Lisa opened up about her linguistic journey and how Korean now feels second nature to her.

“It’s been 15 years since I came to Korea,” she said. “I’m fluent in Thai, Korean, and English — in that order. Korean feels most natural to me, so even during English interviews, I think in Korean first and then translate my thoughts.”
Lisa, who released her debut solo album “Born Again” earlier this year, continues to balance her solo projects with BLACKPINK’s global schedule.
The group will next perform in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on 18 and 19 October as part of their “Deadline” world tour.
