Kim Soo Hyun's agency, GOLDMEDALIST, has addressed the recent concerns raised by Sulli's brother regarding her bed scene in the 2017 film Real. Sulli, whose real name was Choi Jinri, starred in the film alongside Kim Soo Hyun, with the movie directed by Lee Sa Rang, Kim Soo Hyun's cousin. Sulli's brother had questioned the necessity of his sister performing a nude scene, especially since a body double was reportedly available for the role. He questioned whether the scene was truly required, raising concerns about the impact on his late sister’s well-being.

In response, GOLDMEDALIST issued a comprehensive statement on April 2, 2025, expressing condolences for the passing of Sulli. The agency began by clarifying the nature of the role she played in Real, with the character Song Yoo Hwa being central to the plot, and explained that the film’s script explicitly included the bed scene from the start.

“When we were casting for the role, we explicitly stated that an essential requirement was being open to performing scenes involving nudity,” GOLDMEDALIST explained. “Just as job postings outline necessary qualifications, the role of Song Yoo Hwa required nudity, and this was clearly communicated beforehand.” The agency went on to mention that the contract included a clause about nudity, which Sulli and her agency fully reviewed before agreeing to the project.
“The contract explicitly included a clause outlining the scope of nudity,” they emphasized, noting that Sulli and her agency had ample opportunity to review the terms before committing to the role. The statement also acknowledged the difficulty and courage required to film such scenes, and reassured that the production team had taken extensive steps to ensure Sulli was fully prepared. “The late actress was well-informed about the scene in advance and approached the filming with this understanding,” the agency affirmed.

Regarding the concerns raised by Sulli’s brother, GOLDMEDALIST reiterated that Sulli was fully aware of the nature of the scene and that her involvement in it was voluntary. The agency also addressed the use of a body double, explaining that while a stand-in was used for certain technical aspects of the scene, no deception took place. “We are attaching written statements of fact from Real’s assistant director Kim Jung Ok and script supervisor Lee Joon Hyun, who were present for all scenes, including the bed scene,” GOLDMEDALIST stated.
