Actress Kate Gosselin who recently urged fans to pray for her recovery after she was hospitalized, has now shared details of her injury and reason of hospitalization.
On Tuesday, September 30, the 50-year-old nurse and former reality star went live on TikTok to share why she had been hospitalized and asked fans to keep her in their prayers. She explained that she required surgery after her dog Meika accidentally ran into her, causing a leg fracture.
She started by stating that she was with her boyfriend Steve at the time of accident. “Yesterday was a normal day… we decided to take the dogs for a walk. So we went to a little area where you can play in our neighborhood and we’re playing ball.”
“My boyfriend threw the ball and she came running for it and she was running at the absolute speed of light and I stepped the wrong way,” she explained. “I tried to get out of the way and she ran into the side of my leg, my knee, at top speed. The only way I can describe it, it was like a concrete wall running at the speed of light.”
Kate shared that she fell right after hearing a sudden noise, describing how the pain was so intense that she collapsed to the ground. She added that during her first attempt to stand, she felt something shift in her leg, which caused her to panic.
“I kept waiting for the pain to wear off or dial down and it never did,” she added.
As the sun began to set, Kate mentioned that she felt the need to try getting up again, adding that she would have to deal with “bones floating around.” She confirmed Steve’s identity for the first time while addressing the rumors about their relationship, explaining that he went to fetch the car, which allowed her to hop over to the vehicle.
In the video, she went on to say that she first visited an urgent care facility before eventually being admitted to the hospital.
“I ended up with a tibial plateau fracture and surgery with plates and pins in my leg,” she revealed. “The surgeon said it was life-altering issues. That was his opening line this morning at 5 a.m.: ‘So this is one of those things that is a life-altering event.’ I was like, he’s got my attention.”
Kate's surgery lasted three hours, and she posted a photo from her hospital bed afterwards. Kate is popularly known for her stint in the show Jon & Kate Plus 8.
