Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton passed away on October 11, leaving a void in the entertainment industry. Now, the veteran actress’ close ones have revealed the cause of her death.
In an official statement via People, Diane Keaton’s family revealed that the actress died of pneumonia. The family also expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support received from the fans.
The statement reads, “The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11.”
Diane Keaton’s family further reflected on the actress’ passion and noted, “She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her."
The actress took her last breath surrounded by her close ones, which included daughter Dexter, 29, and son Duke, 25. She adopted both of her children as a single mother in her 50s.

LAFD arrived at the actress’ house at 8:08 am on Saturday, and an ambulance took her to a local hospital.
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening,” informed the source to the outlet.
Diane Keaton had been open about her health issues over the years, particularly her struggles with bulimia and skin cancer. However, she had not revealed any new medical diagnoses.
