Isabelle Tate, an actress best known for her first appearance in 9-1-1: Nashville, died tragically on October 19 at the age of 23. Her cause of death has now been established.
The McCray Agency, Isabelle's talent agency, announced on Instagram on October 23 that the young actress passed away "peacefully" from "a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease." In order to help her family deal with the devastating loss, the agency also asked for privacy.
According to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA), CMT as a rare multisystem and multiorgan disorder that results in progressive symptoms like arm and leg muscle weakness and wasting, sensory loss, and trouble balancing. It can significantly impair daily activities and mobility.
The Mayo Clinic describes it as a group of inherited conditions that damage the peripheral nerves, mainly in the limbs.
In their statement, McCray added that instead of sending flowers, Isabelle’s family has asked for donations to be made in her memory to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.
An obituary shared by a local funeral home confirmed that Isabelle had recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and had just landed her first acting role before her untimely passing.
In the pilot episode of 9-1-1: Nashville, Isabelle portrayed Julie, a young woman in a wheelchair attending a strip show, where Hunter McVey’s character, Blue, gives her special attention. Her performance, though brief, left a lasting impression and marked the beginning of what could have been a promising career.
Country music legend Alan Jackson had also revealed in 2021 that he was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Earlier this month, he announced that because of his condition, he will perform his final concert on June 27, 2026.
