Tina Ahuja recently shared her father's longstanding advice on weight loss, revealing that his guidance was a constant part of her life during her teenage years, though it no longer persists now.
She explained that her father would always encourage her to stay fit. While she acknowledged that she never had any issues with his words, she admitted that after her accident in Jaipur, she gained weight because she couldn’t work out for a year. At that time, she believed she was still fit. Tina reflected on how her father's words shaped her understanding of fitness, and while his advice may have tapered off over the years, the foundation he laid still remains with her.
Sharing with Kamiya Jani on Curly Tales, Tina stated, “Not anymore, but this has been a constant since my teens. He would always say, ‘Tum fit raha karo, ache lagne chahiye, mote unhealthy acha nahi lagta.’” Tina explained that she never had an issue with his advice at the time, but things took a turn after she suffered an accident in Jaipur.
Due to her inability to work out for an entire year, Tina gained weight. However, at the time, she felt fit and didn’t notice the changes in her body.
It wasn’t until an invite from actress Shilpa Shetty that Tina truly realized the extent of her weight gain.
Recalling the eye-opening moment, Tina said, “The biggest eye-opener for me was thanks to Shilpa Shetty ji. She invited me for a screening, and I had just returned from London after a holiday, thinking I looked like a fairy. Then I saw a tagged photo of myself on Instagram and thought, ‘Oh, I have gained so much weight.’”
This moment of self-reflection made Tina realise that she had gone from a UK size 4 to a UK size 12 without even realising it. She attributed the weight gain to her lack of exercise and overeating, particularly during her time off from physical activity.
Reflecting on her journey, Tina confidently stated, “I feel like I could write a book on how to lose weight—taking it one day at a time. I know all the healthy tricks and tips.” Her newfound knowledge of fitness and health has empowered her to approach weight loss with patience and consistency, focusing on sustainable changes rather than quick fixes.
When asked if her mother, Sunita Ahuja, encourages her to diet or restricts her food choices, Tina shared that her mother takes a more relaxed approach. “My mom actually makes me eat! She tells me I look good fat,” Tina laughed, with Sunita chiming in, “Mere according, mann nahi maarna. Don’t overeat, but eat everything. It’s better to work out and stay active. I go for a brisk walk every morning for an hour.”
Sunita’s approach promotes balance—encouraging Tina to enjoy food while maintaining an active lifestyle.
