Two individuals, a man and a burqa-clad woman, were arrested after allegedly threatening renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, in the Bandra area of Mumbai. The incident took place on Wednesday morning while Salim Khan was sitting at the Bandra Bandstand promenade after his routine walk. The duo, after being detained, claimed the act was done "for fun," according to the police.
The police reported that the man and woman, riding on a two-wheeler, approached Salim Khan after taking a U-turn near the promenade. They allegedly made a reference to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, asking him, "Lawrence Bishnoi ko bheju kya?" (Should we send Lawrence Bishnoi to you?). Following this threat, the couple quickly fled the scene.
Salim Khan's bodyguard lodged a formal complaint at the Bandra police station, leading to the registration of a case and subsequent investigation. The police promptly launched a probe and detained the duo. Upon questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted that they were only engaging in ‘mischief’.
While the police are continuing their investigation into the incident, the threat is being taken seriously, given the previous criminal background associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, who had previously been linked to threats against Salman Khan.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of high-profile individuals in Mumbai, especially in light of past threats made against the Khan family. Lawrence Bishnoi's name has frequently surfaced in such instances, given his criminal involvement and history of making similar threats in the past.
Authorities are now investigating further to determine if there were any other motives behind the incident or if any other individuals were involved. (With PTI inputs)
