Madhuri Dixit’s much-publicized Toronto event Dil Se… Madhuri has become the subject of heated debate after attendees criticized it for delays and misleading promotions. Following days of backlash, the event organisers, True Sound Live Ltd., have broken their silence to explain what went wrong and why the actor’s late arrival wasn’t their fault.
In their official statement, the organisers said the event “commenced on time” and went “exactly as scheduled.” They clarified that a live musical performance featuring Indian Idol singers opened the show as planned. “We at True Sound Live Ltd. would like to clarify the facts regarding the recent Madhuri Dixit – The Golden Girl of Bollywood show held in Toronto, following misleading social-media commentary,” the statement read. “The event commenced on time with a high-energy opening act featuring exceptional singers from Indian Idol, exactly as scheduled.”
The organisers went on to explain the reason behind Madhuri’s delayed stage appearance. “The show’s format, as shared with Madhuri Dixit’s management, included a Q&A session at 8:30 PM followed by Madhuri’s 60-minute performance segment. However, despite our production team’s readiness and communication throughout the evening, Madhuri Dixit’s own management team misinformed her about the call time, resulting in her late arrival around 10 PM,” they said. “This delay was completely beyond the control of True Sound Live Ltd.”
The organisers also claimed that confusion backstage added to the disruption. “Certain backstage individuals, including Shreya Gupta, were preoccupied with personal video recordings instead of supporting the artist’s timely coordination, which further added to the confusion,” the statement added. They urged attendees to view video footage showing Madhuri’s presence and performance, emphasizing that “our company fulfilled every contractual and logistical responsibility — from staging, lighting, and sound to audience management — and maintained the event timeline as planned.”

Fans who attended the show at Toronto’s Great Canadian Casino Resort on November 2 voiced frustration online, saying they had been promised a full concert but instead got a talk-based format with minimal dancing. Many said they waited hours for the actor to arrive and called the evening “a complete waste of time and money.”
True Sound Live Ltd. ended its statement by thanking fans for their “support and understanding,” insisting that the show went ahead as per plan and that the delay stemmed solely from miscommunication within Madhuri’s team.
The controversy has sparked a broader discussion on how celebrity live events are marketed and managed — and on the growing expectation that transparency and timing matter as much as star power.
