The much-awaited sequel, Dhurandhar 2 has now officially cleared censorship formalities.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the film, paving the way for its theatrical release on 19 March. Starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is gearing up for a box office face-off with Toxic, led by Yash.
According to Times Now, the CBFC website lists the runtime as 208 minutes — nearly three and a half hours — and the film has received a UA 16+ certificate.
The lengthy duration hints at a sprawling narrative filled with action, emotional drama and layered storytelling, something fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating.
Although the makers have kept the official plot under wraps, reports suggest that the sequel will explore the rise of Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, as Sher-e-Baloch following the death of Rehman Dakait.
The story is expected to dive deeper into themes of power, loyalty and vengeance. Adding further intrigue, Yami Gautam is said to feature in a powerful cameo as a deep-cover intelligence operative. The cast also includes R Madhavan and Sara Arjun, adding more depth to the ensemble.
However, the film has also found itself in controversy. The production house, B62 Studios, is reportedly facing possible blacklisting by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over alleged safety violations on set.
Reports claim that banned crackers and flammable materials were used during filming, prompting complaints to the Mumbai police. The civic body has already forfeited a Rs 25,000 security deposit and imposed a Rs 1 lakh penalty.
Despite the off-screen turbulence, excitement around Dhurandhar 2 remains high. With a star-driven cast, an ambitious runtime and a dramatic release clash on the horizon, the sequel is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films of the year.
