Actor Bobby Deol has revealed that he has completely given up alcohol — a change he describes as one of the most transformative decisions of his life. Speaking to Bombay Times, Bobby called sobriety a turning point that has brought him balance, clarity, and stronger relationships.
“Yes, I have, and it has really helped me,” he said when asked about quitting. “Everyone is genetically different, and no one realises how any kind of intoxication can affect you. And some people have those genes where you get addicted to things.”
Bobby admitted that it wasn’t just a lifestyle change but an emotional and spiritual one. “You don’t get these kinds of chances in life. The voice has to come from within. I think I’m a better person after I stopped drinking, and I think my relationship has become a hundred times better with everyone I know.”

The actor, who has been on an impressive professional streak since his breakout in Aashram, has earned acclaim for his recent performances. His latest project, The Ba*ds of Bollywood, directed by Aryan Khan, has received widespread attention. As Bobby celebrates three decades in the film industry, he says this new phase of sobriety has brought him a renewed sense of purpose.
Calling the decision deeply personal, Bobby reflected on how giving up alcohol allowed him to reconnect with his true self and improve his personal life. “It’s about understanding your own limits, your triggers, and being honest about what really serves your growth,” he shared.
The actor also took time to praise Aryan Khan, who directed him in The Ba*ds of Bollywood. “It was like my own son telling me, ‘I want this, I want you to do it this way.’ If the film is what it is, it’s because of Aryan. He’s proved it to the world,” Bobby said, calling Aryan a “taskmaster and perfectionist.”
Bobby further admired Aryan’s courage to carve out his own identity. “With the pressure he was under, to have the guts to step out and have his own voice as a director, hats off to him. I feel so proud of him!”
After a remarkable run with Animal and The Ba*ds of Bollywood, Bobby Deol is now gearing up for Animal Park with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continuing both his professional rise and personal evolution.
