Brazilian model Larissa Bonesi found herself in the middle of a political debate in India this week after being wrongly identified during a press conference on alleged electoral malpractice in Haryana. The confusion began when Rahul Gandhi, addressing the media, displayed a photograph of a woman he claimed had voted multiple times under different names across polling booths in the state. Social media quickly picked up the visuals and began connecting the face shown with Larissa Bonesi, who has previously been linked to Shah Rukh Khan’s son and filmmaker Aryan Khan.
The claim spread fast. The narrative became that the woman in the images was Bonesi. But the identification turned out to be incorrect. The uproar grew because Larissa Bonesi is already a public figure in India, with a career in modeling and small acting roles. Her rumoured connection with the Khan family amplified the attention overnight.
Rahul Gandhi, while pointing to the alleged voting irregularities, asked questions like “Who is this lady? What is her name? Where does she come from?” He also listed how the woman allegedly voted 22 times, in 10 different booths, under multiple names including Seema, Sweety, Saraswati, Rashmi and Vilma. The shock factor led audiences online to look for the face, trace her identity, and the name Larissa Bonesi began trending.
However, soon after, supporters and observers clarified that Rahul Gandhi’s reference was not to Larissa Bonesi at all. The woman in question is believed to be Brazilian model Larissa Nery, a different individual with a similar name. Nery reportedly posted online explaining that she is the person whose image was shown, sharing screenshots and videos to underline the point. But by then, the discussion had already travelled widely.

Larissa Bonesi herself has not publicly commented on the situation. On her recent posts, many Indian users left lighthearted comments congratulating her on being “famous in India again” or joking about “getting Indian citizenship”. Much of it played out like internet humour layered over a serious political allegation.
Bonesi, 31, has lived and worked in India for nearly a decade. She appeared in projects like Go Goa Gone (2013), Thikka (2016), Rocket Raja (2017), and more recently, Ghaati (2025). Her name surfaced in entertainment news earlier this year when she was spotted with Aryan Khan and the Khan family during the launch of his debut web series. Neither Aryan nor Bonesi has ever publicly confirmed or denied their relationship.
