Alia Bhatt recently opened up about a sweet little ritual she’s started for her daughter, Raha, that shows just how much she cherishes these early moments of motherhood.
She revealed that every month, she writes emails to Raha filled with photos and tiny memories — little snapshots of their life together that she plans to give her daughter when she’s grown up.
This heartwarming confession came during Alia’s chat on Amazon Prime Video’s talk show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, where she was joined by Varun Dhawan.
Kajol couldn’t resist teasing her about the habit, joking, “You write daily emails to your baby, at least that’s what we’ve heard. Did you get this idea from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Does Karan Johar get the credit?"
Alia laughed and clarified, “Not really. My friend Aarti—or someone—gave me this idea. Somebody told me that somebody did this for their child. And also, it’s not daily, it’s monthly."
She explained that the emails are like a little time capsule. “It’s more like a monthly compilation of images and little one-liners, like: ‘You loved this so much!’ I plan to gift it to Raha when she turns 18… or maybe she’ll demand it earlier, at 13 or 14."
The hosts found the idea incredibly touching. Twinkle Khanna called it “so sweet," while new dad Varun Dhawan compared it to the classic baby books families used to keep.
Their conversation soon turned to how quickly parents can forget the small but precious details of their children growing up. Alia shared how her mother, Soni Razdan, always told her, “You’ll be surprised at how much you forget.” She admitted, “And now I realise it’s true."
Kajol and Alia nodded in agreement, but Varun was shocked that parents forget so much. "Writing things down helps me hold onto those fleeting moments," Twinkle continued.
Alia even admitted that when a friend recently asked about her childbirth experience, she couldn’t remember many details, even though it wasn’t long ago.
Alia and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022 and revealed her face to the world at the Kapoor family Christmas lunch in 2023 — a moment that quickly went viral.
Looking ahead, Alia is set to star with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. She also has Alpha releasing on December 25, marking the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe.
