Bollywood's noted director Anurag Kashyap has revealed that he has shifted out of Mumbai and is now settled in Bengaluru.
The director cum actor in an interview with The Hindu confirmed his relocation and said Bollywood has become very 'toxic' and has a profit-driven focus.
Anurag, who won accolades for his negative role in Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maharaja, expressed admiration for the creative freedom in Southern film industry. The Gangs of Wasseypur director is currently busy promoting the Hindi release of his Malayalam film Footage.
In December itself, the 52-year-old filmmaker had talked about his plans of moving out of Mumbai and settle down south.
A source told the portal that Anurag has indeed moved to Bangalore and said that he wants to distance himself from the Hindi film fraternity.
“I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next Rs 500- 800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone,” he told The Hindu.
Anurag also added that Bollywood is more focused on high box office numbers and it has led to its creative environment.

Anurag had earlier told The Hollywood Reporter India that he was 'frustrated with the Hindi film industry' and planned to relocate to South India.
Anurag Kashyap, who has won many accolades in his long career, said: “a city is not just a structure but also its people. People here… they pull you down."
Anurag is now going to focus on some new projects, including a Malayalam-Hindi film and a Tamil film.
