Aditya Roy Kapur is poised to enchant audiences once more in Metro In Dino, a return to the romance and contemporary relationship genre.
This time, though, it was the experimental narrative and the musical storytelling format that caught his attention rather than the emotional arcs or complex characters. The actor, who is renowned for his reflective roles and understated charm, talked about how the film's artistic framework gave him a whole new avenue to pursue as a performer.
Reuniting with director Anurag Basu after their hit film Ludo, Aditya spoke warmly about their collaboration. Reflecting on the creative spontaneity Basu brings to the table, he said:
“With Dada everything and everyday is a discovery, everyday is a fun challenge. It is unpredictable you don’t know what new idea he is gonna throw your way and that’s the most fun part of the process. I think with this project there is a musical element to it, one is trying to blend in music into the scene - in and out of the scene. So I think this was a new thing to try and figure out how to go from talking into singing and then back to talking. And how to kind of navigate that was challenging but also rewarding and that was a new thing for me.”
Aditya had to switch between dialogue and song with ease due to the film's musical structure, which was different from the typical format he is accustomed to. It was a challenging and creatively fulfilling experience, he said.
With its ensemble cast and interwoven tales of urban romance, Metro In Dino promises a novel perspective on interpersonal relationships and a soundtrack that is essential to its narrative. With Basu directing and Pritam writing the music, the movie is anticipated to provide an avant-garde cinematic experience that Aditya found both energising and creatively enriching.
