Despite the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's lavish period drama series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who received widespread praise for her captivating performance, has oddly disclosed that she is still looking for new work opportunities.
Aditi recently opened up to Lilly Singh about the ongoing and frequently disregarded obstacles that women in the entertainment industry still encounter, despite their critical and popular success.
She emphasised that although she received a great deal of love and gratitude for her role in Heeramandi, the positive reviews have sadly not yet resulted in a new movie or television program.
In her conversation with Lilly Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari considered Heeramandi's victory.
When female-centric narratives succeed, Lilly Singh noted, they are often viewed as exceptions rather than as establishing a new norm.
Aditi firmly agreed with this statement, saying, "Yes, it is. You are entirely right." She went on to emphasise her own experience by pointing out that she has not yet formally signed any new film or project, even though the show has been widely successful and well received.
“For example, after Heeramandi, it was wonderful. I got so much love, so much appreciation. So much everything. Have I signed my next show/film? No. I haven’t. I’m still waiting." She added.
When Lilly Singh probed whether the success of Heeramandi might make it easier to greenlight similar high-budget, female-centric shows in the future, Aditi responded with thoughtful honesty: “No, I don’t think so. I hope so. I hope there will be a change."
She articulated her hope that the intrinsic power of storytelling will eventually take precedence, irrespective of whether the narrative primarily focuses on male or female characters. Emphasising the fundamental principle of equality, she asserted that women are equal participants in life and, by extension, unequivocally deserve an equal presence in narratives and on screen.

On the work front, Aditi Rao Hydari is working on a few other projects. She will co-star with Avinash Tiwary in Imtiaz Ali's upcoming television series O Saathi Re.
She also has Parivarik ManuRanjan, a family entertainer that is presently in production and stars seasoned actor Pankaj Tripathi.
While she waits for new contracts, these upcoming roles show that her current projects are varied and offer more chances for her to show off her skills.
