Actor Ravi Kishan, known for his roles in Bhojpuri and Hindi cinema, recently opened up in an interview about his own experience with the casting couch during his early career.
In a YouTube interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Ravi Kishan discussed the issue of men being targeted by sexual predators within the film industry. Reflecting on his journey, Ravi Kishan recalled leaving his village in Bihar as a teenager, driven by the need to escape the harsh poverty he had experienced. During this difficult time, he encountered individuals attempting to exploit his vulnerability, but Ravi remained resolute and refused to compromise his principles.
While talking about the issue he said, "When you’re young and good-looking, when you’re fit but have no money, some people attempt to take advantage of you." He also mentioned that such situations are not confined to the film industry, but occur across various fields. These predators often try to manipulate circumstances, hoping their actions will succeed.
Ravi Kishan recalled encountering numerous advances during his youth, attributing some of the unwanted attention to his lean physique, long hair, and an earring. “I have faced many such attacks in my youth… I would like to tell everyone out there that there are no shortcuts to success. I know of many people who’ve tried to take such shortcuts, and have regretted it immensely. They’ve slipped into addictions, or they’ve taken their lives," said the actor while cautioning aspiring actors not to give in to such pressures, stressing that success has no shortcuts.
Ravi Kishan highlighted the significance of patience in achieving success, firmly rejecting the idea of shortcuts. He emphasized that true stardom is a result of perseverance, and he reassured himself that his time would eventually come. Ravi also stated, "I would tell myself that one day the sun will rise for me. All my friends in the ’90s, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, they became superstars. But I waited for my time."
