In a recent interview with Madan Gowri, veteran actor Nassar opened up about his personal life and the deep connection between his family and actor Vijay. Nassar shared an emotional and heartwarming story about his son, Noorul Hassan Faizal, who had once been in a critical state after falling into a coma for 14 days. During this challenging period, the family found unexpected solace in Vijay's presence, which played a significant role in their lives.
Nassar explained that his son, Faizal, was a massive fan of Vijay. "He was always fond of Vijay and even met him once to express how much he admired him," said Nassar. However, the real testament to Vijay's importance in their lives came when Faizal was in a coma. According to Nassar, after Faizal regained consciousness following the 14-day coma, the first name he called out wasn’t his mother’s or father’s, but Vijay’s.
“When he woke up, he didn’t say amma (mother) or appa (father); he said Vijay,” Nassar recalled. This moment of confusion left the family puzzled, as Faizal had a friend named Vijay, and they were unsure which Vijay he was referring to.
At first, the family was relieved to know that his memory seemed intact, but when Faizal met his friend Vijay, he didn’t recognize him at all. "He looked at him blankly," Nassar said.
This left them with more questions, but then Nassar’s wife, who is a psychologist, deduced that Faizal might be referring to the actor Vijay. Nassar added, "She understood which Vijay he meant, and so we showed him a picture of Vijay Sethupathi."
The moment was transformative. "Faizal’s eyes brightened," Nassar continued. Realizing the powerful impact Vijay had on his son, the family began playing Vijay’s movies and songs to help jog his memory. This, according to Nassar, was when the real connection between Faizal and Vijay began to flourish.
When Vijay learned of Faizal’s situation, he didn’t hesitate to offer his support. Despite the family initially saying it was not necessary, Vijay insisted on meeting Faizal.
Nassar shared that Vijay visited Faizal not once but many times. "He would spend time with him, and he even gifted him a ukulele because he knows Faizal plays the guitar," Nassar said. This gesture of kindness and empathy deepened the bond between the two. For Nassar, this experience was a reminder of the profound impact Vijay had not only as an actor but also as a compassionate individual.
Vijay’s involvement in Faizal’s recovery process stands as a testament to the actor’s caring nature and the influence he holds in the lives of his fans. Nassar expressed his gratitude for Vijay, saying, "Of course, he plays a very important role in my life… my Faizal’s life." This heartfelt narrative sheds light on the profound connection between a fan and his idol, illustrating how Vijay’s kindness transcends his film persona and touches the lives of those who need it most.
Vijay continues to be a dominant figure in Tamil cinema, and his recent film The Greatest of All Time has become one of the highest-grossing films of 2024. As he prepares for his next project with director H Vinoth, fans and well-wishers are eagerly anticipating what might be his final film before his potential foray into politics.
