Indian Institute of Technology-Madras will offer admissions to sportspersons in its undergraduate programmes from the academic year 2024-25, claiming to be the first IIT to make such a move.

For SEA, a student will have to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), like other IIT aspirants, but not through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal. A separate portal operated by the institute was launched on June 11.

Candidates who have secured a position in the Common Rank List (CRL) or category-wise rank list in the JEE (Advanced) 2024 and have won at least a medal in a national or international sports competition in the past four years can apply.
