The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the official notification for the recruitment of 1711 Assistant Professor posts in medical colleges and hospitals across Bihar. These vacancies are aimed at strengthening the teaching staff across various departments under the state health services.
The application process will begin on 8 April 2025 and the last date to apply is 7 May 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official website bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
Vacancies Across Departments
The recruitment covers 25 medical specialties. The highest number of posts is in Anesthesiology with 125 vacancies, followed by Medicine and Gynecology and Obstetrics, each with 120 vacancies, and Pediatrics with 106 vacancies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Assistant Professor posts, candidates must have one of the following degrees in the relevant field:
- MD
- MS
- DNB
- MDS
In addition to the degree, candidates must also have at least three years of teaching experience as a senior resident or tutor in a recognised medical college or hospital. The experience must be approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Candidates from the Bihar Health Services cadre who fulfil the above academic and teaching requirements are also eligible.
Selection Process
There will be no written examination. The selection will be based on a merit list, which will consider the following:
- Marks in MBBS/BDS
- Marks in postgraduate degrees (MD/MS/MDS, PhD, MCH, DNB in superspecialities)
- Government work experience (maximum 10 marks)
- Interview (maximum 6 marks)

- Register and fill in the required details.
- Upload the necessary documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit the application.
