A three-day Competency Based Dynamic Syllabus Framing Workshop for the Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani (ASU) postgraduate programme organised by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of Ayush was held from March 18-20 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa.
Dr Sumbul Rehman, Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) participated as an expert in the workshop. He also attended an online pre-workshop exercise for the PG syllabus framing for Research Methodology and Medical Statistics.
In a separate development, arguing for the central government, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta on January 23 told the Supreme Court that the AMU gave up its minority status with the passage of the 1920 act of parliament and hence it cannot claim it now.
The SG took the court through the provisions of the unamended 1920 AMU act to argue that the university had a national and a non-minority character from the very beginning.
According to Mehta, during the pre-independence era, there were several institutions that did not align with the British crown or grant British degrees. However, many did, and AMU was one of them. He further argued that the founders of AMU were loyal to the British.
