In a grim echo of the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, a 32-year-old man from Telangana has been found dead nearly a month after his wedding, with police detaining his newlywed wife and her mother amid allegations of a murderous conspiracy, The Hindu reported.
The body of Tejeswar, a licensed private land surveyor and dance teacher from Gadwal in Telangana, was discovered in a canal near Pinnapuram under the Panyam police station limits of Nandyal district in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. He had gone missing on June 17, just a month after his marriage to Ishwarya on May 18.
According to The Hindu, Tejeswar’s family lodged a missing person’s complaint with Gadwal police on June 18. CCTV footage later revealed that he had left in a car towards the Kurnool district.
Tejeswar’s relatives suspect foul play, alleging that his wife, Ishwarya, was having an extramarital affair with a bank manager from Kurnool. NDTV reported that Ishwarya’s mother, Sujatha, works in a bank, and the family believes her daughter was romantically involved with a bank employee even before the wedding.
The marriage itself was delayed earlier this year, reportedly because Ishwarya had gone missing ahead of the initially planned date in February. She later returned, expressed her intent to marry Tejeswar, and the wedding took place in May.
Despite warnings from family members who were wary of Ishwarya’s previous conduct, Tejeswar went ahead with the marriage. His family now suspects that both Ishwarya and Sujatha may have plotted his murder.
Police have taken both women into custody for questioning but have so far refrained from commenting on the family's allegations. A senior police officer told NDTV that an investigation is underway and declined to confirm or deny the claims made by Tejeswar’s relatives.
The case has surfaced just weeks after the high-profile murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s mutilated body was found in a gorge on June 2. The investigation revealed that Sonam had allegedly conspired with her lover to carry out the murder before eventually surrendering on June 8.
