'Surya Tilak' illuminates Ram Lalla's forehead on Ram Navami at Ayodhya temple | Watch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers to Lord Ram on the occasion of Ram Navami on Friday and virtually witnessed the Surya Tilak ceremony held at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

The ‘Surya Tilak’ took place at noon, when a beam of sunlight aligned perfectly with the idol of Ram Lalla, forming a celestial tilak on the deity’s forehead. Priests performed special rituals and prayers during the ceremony.

Ram Navami marks the birth of Lord Ram and also concludes the nine-day festival of Ram Navratri, during which devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Shakti.

The festival is celebrated across India with deep devotion, with temples witnessing heavy footfall. In Ayodhya, large crowds gathered at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, prompting authorities to tighten security.
