Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers to Lord Ram on the occasion of Ram Navami on Friday and virtually witnessed the Surya Tilak ceremony held at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
The ‘Surya Tilak’ took place at noon, when a beam of sunlight aligned perfectly with the idol of Ram Lalla, forming a celestial tilak on the deity’s forehead. Priests performed special rituals and prayers during the ceremony.
Ram Navami marks the birth of Lord Ram and also concludes the nine-day festival of Ram Navratri, during which devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Shakti.
The festival is celebrated across India with deep devotion, with temples witnessing heavy footfall. In Ayodhya, large crowds gathered at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, prompting authorities to tighten security.
ADG Lucknow Zone, Praveen Kumar was quoted by ANI as saying that comprehensive safety measures are in place to manage the surge in pilgrims, with authorities utilising drones and a vast network of CCTV cameras.
Kumar said, "Devotees have been arriving in large numbers to offer prayers at the temple. Proper security arrangements have been made. The security is being monitored with the help of drones and CCTV cameras."
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the ninth day of Navratri. He described the occasion as one that brings spiritual blessings, prosperity, and overall well-being.
"The culmination of the nine-day rituals dedicated to Goddess Durga takes place today. The ninth day of Navratri is an auspicious occasion that bestows all forms of spiritual attainments, ushers in happiness and prosperity, and grants overall well-being. On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of the state for Navratri. I offer my best wishes to the citizens, praying that the grace of the Mother Goddess may always remain upon their lives, and that their lives be filled with joy and prosperity," CM yogi said while addressing a gathering.
BJP MP Arun Govil also extended his best wishes to the nation on the occasion of Ram Navami, emphasising the significance of Lord Ram's teachings: "I extend best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Rama Navami. We should follow the path shown by Lord Ram."
