Delhi Weather: Severe heatwave conditions from April 24, IMD issues yellow alert

Severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Delhi from April 24 to 27 as temperatures are expected to stay between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius.

The India Metrological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert for the next three days.

"Moderate health concern is likely for vulnerable people, including infants, elderly people with chronic diseases," said the Met department, advising people to avoid heat exposure, wear lightweight, light-coloured and loose cotton clothes, cover head, and use a cloth, hat or umbrella.

On Tuesday, the temperature went down marginally but is expected to rise from Wednesday. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 39.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. It was 41.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier, making it the season's hottest day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
