Panjab University staffer slits mother's throat in Chandigarh

The victim, Sushila Negi, a widow, was living with her younger son, Ravi Negi, who works at Panjab University, in Chandigarh's Sector 40. Her elder son is settled abroad. The police confirmed that Ravi has been on the run since the murder.

A 32-year-old man allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother at their home in Sector 40 in Chandigarh on Monday morning.

The victim, Sushila Negi, a widow, was living with her younger son, Ravi Negi, who works at Panjab University. Her elder son is settled abroad, The Indian Express reported.

According to the officials, a heated argument broke out between mother and son in the morning. The dispute escalated, and in a fit of rage, Ravi allegedly attacked his mother with a sharp weapon, slitting her throat. She was declared dead on the spot.

 

After the crime, the accused allegedly left his mother’s body lying in a pool of blood and fled the house. Neighbours, on noticing blood stains and hearing distressing noises earlier, alerted the police, who rushed to the spot.
