Three men travelling on a motorbike in Haridwar had a fortunate escape on Tuesday evening after debris from a part of Mansa Devi hill broke and came cascading down onto the busy Har Ki Pauri–Bhim Goda road, which created panic among the shopkeepers nearby, Amar Ujala reported.

CCTV footage, widely shared on social media, captured the harrowing moment as rocks tumbled directly onto the road, striking the bikers and sending their vehicle skidding violently across the waterlogged surface. Passers-by, visibly shocked, rushed to aid the young men, who miraculously suffered only minor injuries.

The incident unfolded near the Bhimgoda railway tunnel and Kali Mata temple, an area that remained crowded even amid Tuesday’s treacherous weather. The footage underscores just how precarious the situation was, with mere seconds separating the riders and several other pedestrians, including children from disaster. Witnesses recounted to local media that but for a split-second alertness, the outcome could have been tragic, with a significant loss of life narrowly avoided.

Torrential rains have pounded Haridwar this week, causing widespread waterlogging and swelling the Ganga River to hazardous levels. In response, police reportedly issued fresh advisories urging the public to shun the ghats, exercise extreme caution around the riverbanks and not venture close to fast-flowing waters.
