Passenger vehicles, two-wheelers fuel 22% growth in India's Q1 automobile exports

India’s automobile exports jumped 22 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of FY26, backed by record shipment of passenger vehicles and strong growth in segments such as two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, industry body SIAM said on July 20.

Across the segments, the total exports surged to 14,57,461 units in Q1, compared to 11,92,566 units in the same period of the previous financial year.

The passenger vehicles segment saw the highest-ever exports in the reported quarter at 2,04,330 units, registering a growth of 13 percent over 180,483 units shipped in the same period last year.

Export growth in this segment was driven by stable demand across most markets, with strong performance in the Middle East and Latin America, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said.
