A disturbing video from Toronto has gone viral showing a man, reportedly intoxicated, physically attacking another man of Indian origin inside a McDonald’s outlet. The footage, captured by bystanders, shows the attacker hurling racial remarks and assaulting the victim without any apparent provocation.
The video shows a man wearing a Toronto Blue Jays jacket walking up to the victim near the “Mobile Order Pick Up” counter. Without warning, he shoves the Indian-origin man, causing his phone to fall to the floor. When the victim bends down to retrieve it, the attacker grabs him by the collar and pushes him against the wall, shouting, “Why acting superior?”
Throughout the confrontation, the victim remains calm and does not retaliate. He is heard saying, “Let me go,” several times as the aggressor continues to hold him by his jacket. The altercation only ends when a McDonald’s employee steps in, urging the attacker to release the man and escorting him out of the restaurant. Even as he is removed, the attacker continues to accuse the victim of arrogance.
Police have not yet issued an official statement, and the identities of both men remain unknown.
The video has sparked widespread outrage on social media, where users have condemned the incident as another example of growing racism and xenophobia in Canada. Many pointed out that attacks on people of Indian origin appear to be increasing, particularly in urban centers like Toronto and Ontario.
This is the second such case to surface in less than a week. Earlier, in Ontario, a video emerged showing a young white man verbally abusing an Indian female employee at another McDonald’s outlet. In that incident, the man repeatedly told the woman to “go back to her own country” while using offensive language. Even after she began recording the encounter, the man continued to insult her with a smirk on his face, showing no remorse.
The back-to-back videos have reignited debate about anti-Indian sentiment in Canada, with many demanding stronger action from law enforcement and more accountability from employers where such incidents occur.
