Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and Donald Trump loyalist, has become the center of an online debate after a video from last year resurfaced, showing him conducting a home interview barefoot. Ramaswamy,39, who recently announced his 2026 campaign for Ohio governor following the 2024 US presidential elections, faced criticism from some social media users labeling his shoeless appearance as "uncivilized" and "anti-American," reported Indian Express.

One critic commented, "Vivek will never be governor of Ohio. This is unacceptable for America," while another described his demeanor as "straight up third-world uncle energy."

A third user took a dig at his political stance, saying, “Vivek lectures us about education while barefoot. Uncivilized.”

However, many defended Ramaswamy, highlighting that removing shoes indoors is customary in various cultures, including South and East Asia.
