Iran launches fresh missile barrage at Israel, explosions rock Tel Aviv, Jerusalem; IDF hits Arak reactor

A new wave of Iranian missiles targeted central and northern Israel early Friday, triggering air raid sirens across major cities, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed incoming projectiles had been launched from Iran and said its air defense systems were actively intercepting them.

Multiple explosions were reported over both cities, with local media identifying at least four impact sites across Israel. The IDF has urged the public to seek shelter and remain indoors "until further notice" as defensive operations continue.

Among the sites hit was the Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, where damage was reported following the strikes. Additional missile landings were confirmed in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Holon.

In response, Israeli forces have reportedly struck Iran’s Arak heavy-water nuclear reactor, a facility long viewed with concern by Western powers due to its potential to produce plutonium for weapons. The Reuters news agency, citing Iranian state television, said the site had been hit shortly after Israel warned residents in the Arak-Khondab region to evacuate.

Separately, Israeli forces announced the killing of Yassin Abdel Moneim Ezzedine, a senior Hezbollah artillery commander operating in Lebanon’s Litani sector. Military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said Ezzedine had planned multiple attacks on Israel and was instrumental in efforts to rebuild Hezbollah’s artillery capabilities. The group has not yet commented on the reported strike.
